Question: I want a curly wig for halloween but all the pre curled ones look junky. Could i buy a straight wig and curl it myself or would that melt the cheep wig?

Answer: ask your local beauty college to do your wig. I am sure it would be free, or under 5 dollars. I do it every year. and it is free here.
